This blog is a place to explore and experience new things. I am always tinkering, or learning something new. I have finally decided to write some of this down and that is what this blog is for. I’m notoriously bad for writing things down, so hopefully that will be changing. 🙂
The content will range from software development topics, mobile topics, IOT topics, or actually whatever is interesting for me on the day. I hope someone out there finds it interesting too.

Hi I’m Allan!
I am a Xamarin Most Valueable Professional (MVP), Microsoft Development MVP, Microsoft Internet of Things MVP, Microsoft Azure MVP, Xamarin Premier Consultant Partner, Architect, Software Developer, Organizer and Sponsor of the CPTMSDUG, JHBMSDUG and DBNMSDUG User’s Group and father of 2.
With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, having run my own commercial software projects since school days, I have gained the ability to marry business vision with technical implementations to create practical solutions. I believe you need to be on top of your game and in touch with rapidly advancing technology at all times to be able to deliver modern solutions users will love.
While mobile development is not the only type of development I’m involved in, the love for technology (and gadgets of all descriptions) instils a particular passion in me for the mobile space. I am very happy to be in a position where my passion and hobby is also my day job. I spend my free time assisting the community globally on Xamarin and .NET projects, dabbling in the IOT and electronics space, and generally building things that are fun and interest me. I am actually an electrical engineer turned software developer fighting to return. 🙂
When away from the keyboard, I enjoy travelling, experiencing nature and seeing the world through the eyes of my “mini-me’s” Dylan and Michael.
